Letter: Will regs ruin Mt. Misery?

Letter: Dog enjoys running around Mt. Misery
Thursday, March 24, 2005

My husband and I moved to the Boston area a year and a half ago from the Midwest where there was plenty of room to let your dog run. One of the first things we did when we arrived here was to find all of the local parks or recreation areas where our dog could run. Mt. Misery quickly became our favorite. We loved walking through the woods and feeling like we were getting away from the city. We also liked that most people were good about picking up after their dog. We've been going to Mt Misery every Saturday and Sunday for close to a year and I would hate to lose the privilege of allowing our dog to run off leash. Our dog is actually more controlled off leash then on and she loves to swim in the river. Each week I look forward to getting up early on the weekend and heading out for a morning hike with the dog. Even though I love everything Mt Misery has to offer, a leash law will change the experience enough for me to find a new place to hike. Please reconsider enforcing a leash law so that Mt Misery can remain a great place for people and dogs.
