Letter: Three ideas to replace regs
Thursday, March 31, 2005

My name is D.A.. Rutter. I am a 10-year-old and me, my family and my three dogs love to walk at Mt. Misery.
When I walk with my family and my dogs it is one of the only times that I see my dad because he works so much. I was stunned when me and my family heard about the law of having to keep dogs on leaches. I was actually in Florida having a great time and then I got a call about the new law and that just ruined my vacation.
What made me very mad was that my three nice Irish Setters have never torn up any ground, never made any people mad, and never got in any fights with dogs, so why should they be punished???? Lincoln is known as a family town. Mt. Misery is a place where whole families can come together with their dogs and walk their dogs off leash and run with their dogs and have a blast. And now you have taken away the off leash dogs with your law. My mom has Carpal Tunnel Syndrome so she can't keep the dogs on leash otherwise her wrists really start hurting.
Every weekday my mom has to walk our dogs by herself because I am at school and when she walks the dogs alone she really can't use her wrists for a long time. Your leash law will truly hurt my family and my mom and other families. My family has been coming to Mt. Misery for 13 years. I have three very good ideas that will definitely work.
Number one is that there are a few hours like from 8 a.m. to noon when dogs can walk off leash without being yelled at.
Number two is that each family can pay a fee that lets them walk all their dogs off leash anytime they want. My last and best idea is that you take away the law and let people walk their dogs off leash.
Please do not take this away.
