Police arrested a Watertown man believed to be responsible for a car break-in at the Mt. Misery parking lot on Route 117.
Stephen M. Dupont, 28, of 237 Palfrey St., Watertown, was charged April 5 with breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, larceny under $250, improper use of credit card under $250, forgery of document, and uttering a false instrument.
Dupont was arraigned in Concord District Court on the charges last week and was able to post bail, Kennedy said.
"It was just a matter of good police work, good observations by officers McCarty and Surrette and sharing of information among police departments that ultimately led to his arrest," Lincoln Police Lt. Kevin Kennedy said.
Kennedy said police identified Dupont using surveillance tapes from a store in Waltham, where Dupont allegedly used a credit card stolen from a parked car at Mt. Misery.
Kennedy said Carlisle Police sent out an alert to area police departments April 5 after they had identified Dupont when he allegedly attempted to break into the rear window of a minivan parked at Carlisle conservation land April 1. Carlisle Police said Dupont was driving a white van.
Later that day, Kennedy said two officers were near Lee's Bridge when they noticed the van Dupont was allegedly driving traveling east on Route 117.
"We ended up finding the vehicle in the lot of Mt. Misery," Kennedy said, saying officers stopped Dupont as he left the lot, searched his vehicle, gathered evidence and placed him under arrest.
Police believe Dupont is responsible for a car break-in at the Mt. Misery parking lot March 21, allegedly stealing a pocketbook from a parked car.
"Stolen credit cards were used at two different stores in Waltham," Kennedy said.
